Disabling form autofill in the browser
Some browsers suggest the option to save form data and autofill it in future form submissions. This can be a useful when browsing for personal use, but undesirable when using the browser for business and with software such as ours, where many people are potentially using the device (such as when it's used at the front desk).
We indicate to the browser not to autofill any fields, however most browsers ignore this and provide that option regardless. We suggest to disable the autofill feature in browsers that are shared between multiple users / members.
Instructions are provided below for disabling autofill in the following browsers:
Disable Autofill on Google Chrome
Turning Off Autofill in Chrome
- Click the Chrome menu icon. (Three vertical dots at top right of screen.)
- Select "Settings" in the popup menu that opens up.
- In the "Autofill" section, expand the area for which you wish to disable Autofill.
- Toggle the setting off by clicking on the toggle button on the right. You might want to remove any saved addresses as well.
Clearing Autofill Data in Chrome
- Click the Chrome menu icon. (Three vertical dots at top right of screen.)
- Click on Privacy & Security, then click on Clear Browsing Data.
- If it is not already selected, click on the "Advanced" tab.
- At the top, choose “All Time” option to clear all saved data.
- Make sure that the “Autofill Form Data” option is checked. If you wish to clear "Passwords and other sign-in data", be sure to check that option as well (this would prevent password fields from being autofilled).
- Click on the "Clear Data" button.
Disable Autofill on Firefox
- Click on the Firefox menu icon. ("Hamburger" menu in top-right of the screen)
- Click on "Settings."
- Click on "Privacy & Security."
- In the "Logins and Passwords" section, uncheck the option to save logins and passwords for websites.
- In the "Logins and Passwords" section mentioned above, click on the "Saved Logins" button. This will bring up a list of saved usernames and passwords. Click on the "Remove" button for each login you would like to remove, to remove it from the saved logins.
- In the "History" section, change the option to "Use custom settings for history", then uncheck the box for "Remember search and form history".
- In the "History" section mentioned above, click on "Clear History". In the "Time range to clear" option, select "Everything", then under "History" below, make sure "Form & Search history" is checked. Click on "OK" to confirm.
Disabling Autofill in Microsoft Edge
Turning off Autofill in Microsoft Edge (Chromium)
- Click on the "Settings and More" icon. (Three dots at top right of screen)
- Click on "Settings" at the bottom of the menu that pops up.
- Make sure "Profiles" is selected on the left side menu, then click on the "Passwords" option in the main screen.
- Turn off "Offer to save passwords" and "Automatically save passwords". You should remove any saved logins for Gymdesk by clicking on the three dots icon next to that login, then the "Delete" option.
- Go back to "Profiles" from the left hand menu, and this time click on "Personal Info".
- Disable the options for "Save and fill basic info", "Automatically fill my info on signup forms", and "Save and fill custom info".
- Click on "Privacy, search, and services" from the left side menu, then under "Clear browsing data", click on "Choose what to clear".
- Under "Time range", selected "All time". Make sure "Autofill form data" is selected from the options below (you can uncheck all other boxes if you don't that data to be cleared). The click on the "Clean Now" button at the bottom of the popup.
Safari Instructions
In Safari, you will want to not only turn off autofill data, but also clear it. Instructions are listed below.
Turning off Autofill in Safari
- Click on the Safari menu. (The word Safari at the top of the screen.)
- Click on "Settings"
- Click on the "AutoFill" tab.
- Uncheck “User names and passwords." If you wish to prevent Safari from saving any other AutoFill web information, be sure to uncheck those options as well.
- The system should automatically save your settings.
Clearing Autofill Data in Safari
- Click on the Safari menu. (The word Safari at the top of the screen.)
- Click on "Settings"
- Click on the "AutoFill" tab.
- Next to “User Names and Passwords” click "Edit."
- Search "Gymdesk" and click on the minus button.
- Click "Delete Password".
Note: This action may take some time to complete, depending on how often you clear your browsing history.
